Big River Railroad has instituted a car numbering system which extends far beyond the existing rolling stock. Numbers are allocated as follows:

Gondolas 50-59

Flat Cars 60-70

Boxcars 100-117

Tank Cars 200-210

Cabooses 301-306

Hoppers 400-411

Reefers 600-604

Stock Cars 700-703
